USG Speak Your Mind

General Comments

  • May 28, 2025 Dear Mines students, I realize this might be an inappropriate forum for this, and if so I apologize in advance. I thought I would give it a shot anyway. Since Donald Trump is attacking universities, I thought you would be interested in the upcoming No Kings protest in Golden at 10th and Washington on June 14, 3-5 p.m. (See https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/786093/.) Please support this protest. It is part of a nationwide protest that will include a number of cities in Colorado. I’m hoping that you might be able to send out a notice in a newsletter, post it on bulletin boards, and/or notify your members via broadcast email. This is not a matter of Republican or Democrat, right or left, or conservative or liberal. This is a matter of democracy versus “autocracy,” where the head of state acts like a king with absolute power. President Trump has ignored 9-0 and 7-2 rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court and thumbed his nose at the idea of separation of powers or the rule of law. Please help in stopping his unconstitutional actions by supporting this protest. For a more detailed account of why, with citations, you can go to my Google Drive and see one version of a letter I sent to my contacts about the April 5 Hands Off! march. One version has the citations imbedded and one has superscripts that align with a different file with the citations: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RHUrXQG2kg63-uY5O2x_i-lLokj0k2xi Please contact me at 720-261-7484 or [email protected] and let me know if you are able to support the protest in any way. I have artwork for flyers and signs if you need it. Thank you. Tom Locke, volunteer for the Golden protest, which is part of the No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance
