Engineering Learning: Foundations of Course Design Application (Fall)
Overview:
Are you designing a new course or redesigning an existing course? During the Foundations of Course Design Intensive, we will work through the course design process and focus on 1) articulating your course vision and purpose, 2) developing course learning outcomes, 3) planning your summative assessments, and 4) outlining experiences to support student learning. The Foundations of Course Design Intensive prioritizes hands-on application and provides opportunities to receive feedback from peers and Trefny colleagues.
 
This intensive consists of meetings twice a week combined with individual, asynchronous work.

 
Fall Foundations of Course Design Meeting Dates/Times: 
Pre work: Asynchronous pre-work will be assigned the week of Sept. 19 and will be due Sunday, Sept. 25 at midnight

Meetings: During the Fall Foundations of Course Design Intensive, we will meet Mondays and Thursdays from September 26 – November 7 (note: we will not meet on 10/17 due to fall break). There are two meeting options to choose from on Monday (choose the Monday option that works best for you) and two meeting options to choose from on Thursday (choose the Thursday option that works best for you).
  • Mondays: 11 am–12 pm OR 2 pm–3 pm (choose the time that works best for you)
  • Thursdays: 11 am–12 pm OR 2 pm–3 pm (choose the time that works best for you)

Asynchronous work: Between meetings, participants will be expected to individually work on their course design.

Final Deliverables Due: Sunday, November 13 at midnight 

 
Compensation:
$1,500 of funds (paid to your PD funds account) are available for qualifying* participants who complete the following:
  • Participate in meetings twice a week during the Foundations of Course Design Intensive
  • Complete asynchronous, individual work
  • Participate in peer reviews
  • Submit completed course re(design) assignments by Sunday, November 13.
*full-time academic faculty.
